Exhibitions 2023:

Brave New World

As well as the exhibition of the AS2023 Competition finalists, the AUSSIE STREET Festival will give the opportunity to members of the global street photography community to participate in an OPEN CALL themed exhibition, where all submissions will be exhibited

The years 2020 and 2021 saw life as we know it drastically change. Borders shut, people retreated behind closed doors, the world held its collective breath, and the very notion of ‘street photography’ became an absurd proposition. In the wake of these years of global catastrophe, we invite photographers to submit images made during these lost years that reflect the emotions and spirit of the time and the ‘brave new world’ that has since emerged.

We are looking for images that go beyond the empty streets and capture what it feels like to endure through these strange times.

The exhibition is not strictly bound by the guidelines of ‘street photography’; however, submissions that are candid, un-posed, and unmanipulated are encouraged.

All submitted photographs will be part of a group exhibition held at Comber Street studios in Sydney, MARCH 24-26th 2023, alongside the work of the BURN MY EYE international collective

An administration fee of AU$5 applies to each image submission.

A fee waiver is available in cases of financial hardship or economic status. Please contact us for further information.

- The exhibition will be open to the public and free to attend during the dates of 24-26th of March. Viewing may be impacted by other festival events, such as the Awards evening and workshop. Please consult the Festival schedule of events for further information.

- The exhibition is envisaged to be a large-scale, salon-style hang of small prints, unmounted and unframed.

- We take inspiration from and hope to achieve a similar exhibition experience to the #ICPConcerned and the Halls Lane Lockdown Picture Show - please view these linked webpages to get a sense of what the exhibition will look like.
